I’m Cerys, an artist and illustrator based in Edinburgh.
Since graduating from Kingston School of Art with a BA in Illustration Animation, I have continued to use drawing as a tool to engage directly with my surroundings and to evoke a sense of place.
My practice stems from sketchbooks that I carry with me day-to-day. Integrating image-making into everything I do blurs the line between creative practice and everyday life, with a messy and instinctive approach. I enjoy the challenges that come with working on the go and welcomes the unexpected outcomes of a broken pen, a drop of rain or subjects that don’t have time to hang around. Recently, I’ve been embracing small moments of calm, stillness and rest within my work.
Since making the move to Edinburgh from my home city Cardiff in 2021, I’ve completed an MSc in Modern and Contemporary Art History at Edinburgh University and held my first solo exhibition.
